A year following her introduction to street art, Stella began exploring ways of repurposing the empty cans of spray paint she had accumulated along the way. In addition to keeping this waste out of our landfills, the vision for this project was to transform the tool for creating art, into a work of art itself. Each can; with its own unique paint patterns & textures, offered an opportunity to highlight the beauty that can be found hidden inside something ordinary. Using a simple can opener, tin snips & needle-nosed pliers, Stella cuts & shapes each can by hand to create a single rose. The rose is the symbol for eternal love & pays homage to her mother & inspiration for the artist’s own pseudonym.
